Conclusion
From our genre research and similar text analysis we found out those thrillers all have a specific style. For example, a major feature is eerie music like in ‘’the sixth sense’’ there is eerie music at the beginning to captivate the audience. Another feature is use of low key lighting. Most thrillers are set in the night because the darkness is very secretive and hides elements in the dark most people are scared of the dark because they do not know what is lurking around. Longer takes are used for more tension building scenes whereas quick cuts are used for more quick scenes. In most thrillers mostly all of the cuts fade to black which adds more suspense.
The best thrillers are crime thrillers which involve murders of some sort. There are always a good and a bad person in the thriller. Someone committing the murders and someone trying to stop them. The top 2 best thrillers in the world are ‘’the god father part l and ll ’’ which both have immense amount of crime. We also found out that the more shocking thrillers are the one who have unexpected murderers or twists at the end.
We have decided to use little kids in our thriller as they make the thriller scarier. It will be really unexpected as you will expect someone else to do it and not the kid. All thrillers have a conventional good person who tries to save the day mainly a man who is strong and brave and a conventional bad person who is evil, heartless and power hungry.
The camera angle that is used most in thrillers to bring more suspense and fear to the audience is canted angle it makes the scene seem more surreal as it is tilted to the side.
In our thriller we have decided that we will put incidental music when to add more tension. We will film it in the dark as it hide’s the scarier things and has the element of surprise when something jumps out. Try and use canted angle when the bad person is on screen to make him/her more feared and a range of jump cuts to surprise and shock the audience.
